Par Rufus Scott

Pär maintains a strong interest in pain and injury management. He has also done research on sleep and anxiety disorders in Chinese medicine, as well as men’s health and dermatological and cosmetic conditions. Outside of clinical practice he is focused on creating better models for the teaching of Chinese medical theory through translation and accumulation of ideas from classical sources.

Pär Scott started studying massage and bodywork in 1988, apprenticing to a local massage therapist and later studying at the Stillpoint School of Massage Therapy. He focused on injury treatment and performance enhancement. He treated members of the Boston Ballet, The Boston Symphony Orchestra, Riverdance, and worked as a staff massage therapist for students and performers at the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival.

In the late 90′s he became interested in Chinese trauma medicine and began studying herbal therapies for muscle and joint injuries. He later attended the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA) graduated in 2002. The same year he helped found and publish a bilingual Chinese medicine journal, and later became translator and editor for the worlds largest Chinese medical publisher, The People’s Medical Publishing House in Beijing.

He has also coauthored a forthcoming collection of case histories of External Medicine. He has been a NESA teaching assistant for the advanced herbal medicine classes for the past eight years and an instructor for “Survey of Chinese Medical Classics” for the last four.
